Review of Ephesians Chapters 1-3: In Chapter 1, we learn that the one of our goals as a youth group and as a church, is that we would become unified for God's glory. (Ephesians 1:10). We also see how greatly God treasures us. Ephesians 1:18 points out that His inheritance is in us, the believers and followers of Christ. We are God's greatest treasures and possessions. , In Chapter 2 of Ephesians, the gospel story is unfolded. We are all sinners and are dead because of our sin. Because of our sin, we deserve God's wrath. But God (vs. 4), because of His rich mercy, made us alive with Christ today. We're aren't just reconciled to God, we're also reconciled to other people (verse 21). If you decided to design your own house and money wasn't an issue for you, you'd make it a really nice home right? You wouldn't skimp on the materials or the design. The same is true with God. He is molding us to become His eternal dwelling place. (2:22)
He won't let us glorify anything else than Himself. This building that God's creating is a permanent project. In fact, chapter 3 of Ephesians shows how the glory of God can be seen through the church. God is working today to change ourselves into a body that glorifies God. Christ should be dwelling in our hearts continuously. It doesn't happen easily. In fact, this shift in thinking takes a lot of time.
